About .ART
.ART is the top-level domain for the art world: over 700,000 domains in more than 170 countries and regions. Our mission, why .ART, and .ART for organisations.
.ART is the top-level domain created for the world of art and creativity, free of industry and geographical constraints. Artists, institutions, professionals and creatives can register a clear and concise web address that shows their occupation and where they belong.
.ART was launched in 2016 and is operated by UK Creative Ideas Ltd under an agreement with ICANN. Today there are more than 700,000 .ART domains, registered in over 170 countries and regions, with offices in London, Beijing, Los Angeles and Washington D.C. Beijing Guiyudi Technology Co., Ltd. is the representative of .ART in China.
Our mission
The mission of .ART is to support the artistic community, protect and strengthen its members’ digital identity, and generate value from art. We keep building partnerships and developing new tools that connect technology and art — digitally, but on a human scale.
Over the years, .ART has supported and led educational projects, initiatives in the museum community, and projects for children and people with disabilities. Part of its revenue supports philanthropic work, including the Healing Power of Art Initiative, which promotes the benefits of art for health and wellbeing.
Why .ART
Identity and recognition
The word “art” is understood in every language. A .ART domain is instantly recognisable and shows your connection to the world of art and culture.
Easier to find
A domain that matches the subject of your site helps visitors and search engines understand it, and helps your site perform for art-related keywords.
Short and memorable
Plenty of short, memorable names and numeric domains are still available in .ART.
Technology for the future
.ART has developed its own big-data pricing algorithm and art keyword ranking, and has ICANN approval to extend WHOIS information fields so that they can record artwork identification data.
Preserving artistic heritage
.ART helps artists and cultural organisations preserve and present their work and collections. Learn about Digital Twin and ART Records.
A global community
.ART domains are used by artists, galleries, museums and foundations, as well as well-known brands and institutions such as the Louvre, Louis Vuitton, Hauser & Wirth and the Marina Abramović Institute. Ambassadors and partners around the world help the community grow.
